From a tree on the hillside overlooking the largest Great Lake
You hung ornamentally, with a grin glued to your face
I slipped off my boots, stepped past the fire and flames

Slowly I lowered you, retied my boots with the lace
But ever since that day they never seemed to fit the same

And I'd wash off my feet in that fresh cleansing rain
Your body was burned, so I never visited your grave
